Ayr United F.C.

Ayr United F.C. or Ayr Football Club are a Scottish professional football club in the city of Ayr, Ayrshire. The club plays in the Scottish Championship, the second tier of the Scottish Professional Football League piramid.

The club was formed in 1910, after the merging of two local clubs, Ayr Parkhouse and Ayr Football Club. In the club’s more than 100-year history Ayr United F.C. have won 6 Scottish second tier trophies, 3 Scottish third tier trophies, 26 Ayrshire Cup trophies, 17 Ayr Charity Cup trophies, and 4 Kilmarnock Charity Cup tropies.

Ayr United F.C. plays their home matches at Somerset Park. The 10,185 capacity stadium was originally opened in 1888 and features a grass playing surface .

In the 2017-2018, Ayr United F.C. secured promotion to the Scottish Championship as champions of League One, the third tier in Scottish football. The club is currently managed by Scott Brown whom directed the team to a 7th place finish in the Scottish Championship 2023/2024 season. The last time the club played in the highest division was in the 1977–1978 season.
