Hibernian FC has shared an update on the status of their injured players. Manager David Gray confirmed five players are still out with injury and will miss today’s game against Motherwell.
The club’s current injured players include Martin Boyle, Joe Newell, Nicky Cadden, Luke Amos and Kieron Bowie. Boyle has been unavailable since last month after undergoing an operation to resolve a longstanding wrist injury. The experienced winger missed his club’s away defeat at Rangers (1-0) last weekend and had to miss out on an Australia national team call up as well.
“Boyley hasn’t trained at all since the operation on his wrist. That went well and he’s progressing all the time.
“He’s developing every day, but we’re not taking any risks on him in case he falls on it or anything like that. I fully expect him back in days rather than weeks, which is the positive thing,” Gray confirmed in a statement on the club website on yesterday.
The Hibernian gaffer was also able to share some hopeful news around the status of midfielders Joe Newell, Nicky Cadden and Luke Amos.
“Joe is back in contention; he’s trained all week, which is great for him.”
“Nicky Cadden is the same, him and Luke Amos were carrying knocks last weekend. Every day in training we’ve been monitoring all three of them because they’ve not participated in every part of the sessions.
“Every day we’ve been seeing how they recover after that, and we will see how they are.”
The most concerning injury is that of Kieron Bowie. The 22-year-old Scottish forward has been out with a hamstring injury since last month and is expected to require months to recover and get back to full fitness.
Hibernian their home game against Motherwell will kick-off at Easter Road at 3 PM. Hibs go into the game as the Scottish Premiership’s number nine, while Motherwell aim to maintain their fourth spot on the league table.
