Inverness CT continue winning form in Challenge Cup

Last evening Inverness Caledonian Thistle managed to end their Scottish Challenge Cup, or SPFL Trust Trophy for sponsorship reasons, third round tie against Stirling Albion with a decisive 3-0 win.

To the delight of the home crowd Inverness CT managed to open the scoring in the 29th minute via Adam Brooks. The 20-year-old striker found the net after a weighted pass from Adam Mackinnon. Not much later Adam Brooks got his name on the scoresheet once more, after his free kick got a deflection and ended up in the Stirling goal for the 2-0.

After his assist in the first half Adam Mackinnon secured the victory for The Highlanders by landing the ball past goalie Derek Gaston for the 3-0. In a stroke of bad luck the visitors from Stirling saw two subsequent goals called off due to offside.

The win is a continuation of Inverness Caledonian Thistle’s recent upbeat form. The Highlanders got their first win in five games against Queen of the South in the League One last week, and managed to stay undefeated since their League One loss against Annan Athletic (1-0) on 10 August. The fallen giant currently sits on the 5th spot on the League One table.

Last month Inverness Caledonian Thistle suspended their takeover negotiations with Seventy7 Ventures and have appointed former chairman Alan Savage to lead the struggling Highland side and put the team in a firmer financial position.

Lowland League champion East Kilbride and League One sides Alloa Athletic and Stenhousemuir caused the biggest surprise of the Scottish Challenge Cup third round weekend, knocking out Cove Rangers, Partick Thistle and Falkirk respectively.
