Raith Rovers have announced Lewis Jamieson has signed a loan deal with the club today. The St Mirren striker joins the Championship side on a one season deal.
The centre-forward has played his football in Paisley since 2019, when he joined the St Mirren youth academy. The 22-year-old has enjoyed prior loan spells with Clyde, Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Airdrieonians. Last season Jamieson managed to score one goal and provide one assist in 31 appearances for the Buddies.
Rovers shared on their official website that Jamieson is eager to show his worth at Stark’s Park. “I’m excited to be here, get started and give everything I’ve got. I pushed for this move to happen so now it’s up to me to do the business.”
Rovers’ interim manager John Potter commented, “We’re really happy to bring Lewis in on loan. It’s been business as usual for us in terms of recruiting players, and our infrastructure is built on a solid foundation that ensures we continue to attract top talent like him.”
Jamieson joins Raith Rovers during a tumultuous period for the club. Earlier this month Rovers sacked manager Ian Murray. Even though Murray led the Kirkcaldy side to their first Scottish Premiership play-off final in three decades, the Rovers board decided to let the manager go. There are rumors Linfield manager David Healy will be appointed imminently to steer the club to new success.
Aside Jamieson, Raith Rovers have welcomed a number of new signings past weeks. So far the club signed defensive midfielder Shaun Byrne, right-back Kieran Freeman, defender Paul Hanlon, left-back Lewis Stevensson, right winger Lewis Gibson, midfielder Kai Montagu, defender Callum Fordyce and left-back Callum Hannah. The transfer market in Scotland will close on 30 August.
