Rangers leave Dundee United with narrow 0-1 win

Rangers FC managed to leave Dundee United with three points today after winning 0-1 at Tannadice.

At a sun soaked Tannadice Park it was Rangers that dictated the game in terms of possession and goal threat. In the seventh minute
Rangers forward Tom Lawrence ran straight through the United defence and managed to lob the ball over the goalkeeper: 0-1.

After the goal the visitors pushed for the second, but Philippe Clement’s men couldn’t turn their dominance into more goals. Just before half time Cyriel Dessers got a clean shot on target from inside the box, but the striker couldn’t make life difficult for United goalie Jack Walton.

After the break Lawrence got another clean strike at goal, but this time he couldn’t get passed Walton. On the other end Dundee United got a big chance via Kristijan Trapanovski. The Macedonian winger’s strike from the edge of the box only narrowly missed the target, with the ball hitting the side of the right post. It was the biggest chance of the home side of the game. The game ended 0-1.

Celtic and Aberdeen maintain 100 percent winning form

Yesterday afternoon Celtic won 2-0 against Hearts of Midlothian at Celtic Park. The champions scored once via a penalty by the club’s new record signing Arne Engels and once via a shot from the edge of the box by Luc McCowan.

In Paisley St Mirren made it a 2-2 draw against Kilmarnock. The home side opened the scoring early on via a header by Toyosi Olusanya. Kilmarnock hit back within five minutes through a deflection by Marley Watkins. Before half time Mark O’Hara grabbed the lead by netting a penalty, but the home side couldn’t hold on and conceded an own goal by substitute Jonah Ayunga in the second half.

Aberdeen faced Motherwell at Pittodrie and won 2-1 in front the home crowd. The man of the match was Pape Habib Guèye. The Senegalese forward scored twice, once finding the net after a solo run passed the Motherwell defence and once by scoring with his head from close range. The Steelmen did something back in the closing stages, Moses Ebiye managed to score by tapping the ball into the net after a sharp pass into the box.

In Edinburgh Hibernian managed to secure their first victory of the season by winning 2-0 against St Johnstone. Mykola Kukharevych opened the scoring at the half time mark, after a free kick was headed in front of goal and landed into the goal via the Ukrainian forward.
