Dundee United F.C., Dundee United Football Club or simply Dundee United, is a Scottish professional football club located in the city of Dundee, Angus. The team currently competes in the Scottish Premiership, the highest division in Scottish club football. Since 1969 the club plays in tangerine colored shirts.
The club was founded in 1909, originally as Dundee Hibernian. In 1923 the club’s name was changed into Dundee United. The team is commonly referred to as ”The Terrors” or ”The Tangerines”, with the fans commonly nicknamed as ”Arabs”.
Since the club’s formation in 1909 Dundee United have played their home games at Tannadice Park. Dundee United’s biggest success dates back to 1983, when they won the Scottish Premier Division. Aside that, they have won the Scottish Cup in 1994 and 2010, and the Scottish League Cup in 1979 and 1980. The club qualified for European football in the 1966–1967 season, and featured in Europe in 14 successive seasons from 1976. In 1983–1984 Dundee United reached the European Cup semi-finals and several years later in 1987 the UEFA Cup final.
Dundee United’s successes diminished in recent dacades, having spent only six seasons in the Premiership since 2013–2014. After winning the 2023–24 Scottish Championship the club has returned to the highest division in Scottish club football for the 2024–2025 season.
