Hamilton Academical Football Club, also referred to as The Accies or Hamilton Accies, is a Scottish professional football club from the town of Hamilton, South Lanarkshire. The club currently currently play their games in the Scottish Championship, the second division of Scottish professional club football.
Hamilton Academical FC were originally founded in 1874. The club formed out of the school football team at Hamilton Academy. They are the only professional football club in the UK to have originated from a school football team.
The club has celebrated a number of successes. Hamilton Academical FC have won the Scottish Challenge Cup three times. They have also finished runners-up in the Scottish Cup twice. The club play their home matches at New Douglas Park stadium.
